Effective Immediately, Charis will begin seeing clients at 150 S. Ripley Blvd Alpena, MI 49707. CHARIS provides individual, marriage and family therapy services with adults, adolescents and children in the northeast Michigan area. The word CHARIS (pronounced "care us") is Greek for grace. Grace is undeserved support or acts of kindness. In brief, it means that God desires the best for us so He unconditionally provides what we do not have and cannot supply for ourselves.
The word CHARIS is the inspiration for CHARIS Counseling Services of Northeast Michigan. CHARIS is a group of outpatient mental health therapists who are passionate about facilitating growth in people and helping them experience the hope, peace, and joy that God desires for them. Our caring, compassionate, and competent therapists desire each person to experience quality treatment that moves people towards their goals.
We offer services to all people regardless of age, color, culture, disability, ethnicity, national origin, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, marital status, or socioeconomic status.

Meet the Team
Report
After supporting individuals, couples, and families in the northeast Michigan area in various professional capacities for over 10 years, I opened Charis Counseling Services in 2015 to provide an opportunity for clients who wanted to integrate their Christian faith into their mental health counseling treatment.
Additionally, I wanted Charis' clients to receive care in a warm and friendly environment where they received personalized attention.
The response of the community was overwhelming and my team has grown to 7 additional clinicians!

Co-Parenting Counseling
Report
Divorcing and separating parents can have a large impact on their children's ability to cope with changes in the family and transition into healthy adjustment.
Research proves that the strongest predictor of emotional and behavioral problems in children after divorce is exposure to high levels of conflict between parents.
Parental conflict has deeper and greater consequences when the tug-of-war is hostile, antagonistic, poorly resolved and focused on matters pertaining to the kids.
However, even when parents are "high conflict" there are ways they can develop cooperative or business-like relationships for the sake of their children.
