We are here to walk with you through the challenges you are facing. At Cedar River Counseling we are committed to listening with compassion and speaking with honesty. What is now Cedar River Counseling and Educational Services, Inc. (CRC) began in June of 1986 when Vernon Lewis, Ph. D., L.P. opened a counseling practice in the 100 Building on North Main Street in Austin, Minnesota.
In 1987, with an established clientele, Dr. Lewis moved his practice to a nearby larger office and incorporated as Cedar River Counseling Services, PA. Thereafter, with a vision for a vibrant faith oriented group practice, CRC was expanded with additional staff to carry on his vision of unsurpassed mental health services. In October of 2008, Stanley R. Miller, Psy.
D., L.P. purchased the counseling practice and Dr. Lewis became the Executive Director Emeritus. Since its inception, CRC has been providing professional counseling and therapy to thousands within the southern Minnesota and northern Iowa area. We offer an accessible location, welcoming atmosphere, fair and competitive fees, and flexible hours.

Diagnostic Assessments: Our clinicians are skilled at evaluating for mental health problems or concerns and reviewing prior assessments.
The initial intake appointment provides the provider with the information necessary to begin understanding the nature of a problem and to begin to provide a preliminary plan for change.
The treatment plan is further refined as we continue to learn about our clients with each subsequent visit.
We believe that education and understanding are critical to change, and we are committed to sharing our diagnostic impressions with clients as they develop over time.
