Empowering You To Live Fully
Healing Quest Counselling
At Healing Quest Counselling, we provide trauma-informed counselling services in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, and through secure virtual sessions available throughout the province. Under the direction of Registered Clinical Social Worker Kirsten Boulier, our practice is dedicated to supporting adults navigating trauma, anxiety, burnout, dissociation, ADHD, grief, and attachment-related challenges. We have developed our services to respond thoughtfully to the complex ways distress can present in daily life, particularly for those who appear highly capable yet feel internally overwhelmed.

Our therapeutic approach combines EMDR, somatic therapy, parts-informed modalities such as IFS and DNMS, and expressive arts. We move beyond insight alone, exploring how stress and traumatic experiences influence attention, relational patterns, and physiological responses. Clients frequently come to us with concerns such as persistent high-functioning anxiety, patterns of chronic people-pleasing, trauma-related shutdown, or a sense of disconnection from self. We engage in a collaborative process that is carefully paced and rooted in nervous system literacy. In-person appointments are offered in Maple Ridge, and virtual counselling remains accessible across British Columbia.

Services
We understand that trauma often develops when distressing experiences occur without consistent repair or protection. Complex trauma, attachment disruptions, and intergenerational wounds can shape emotional regulation and self-concept long after circumstances change. Our trauma therapy emphasizes safety first, helping recalibrate a nervous system organized around threat. By integrating somatic approaches, EMDR, expressive techniques, and compassionate parts-based work, we support thoughtful processing that builds capacity, integration, and renewed self-trust.
We recognize that anxiety may appear as panic attacks, overthinking, perfectionism, or chronic tension beneath a composed exterior. Many individuals feel outwardly capable while internally overwhelmed. Our approach addresses the nervous systems heightened alert state, even when the present moment is safe. By fostering regulation and safety, we support meaningful shifts that extend deeper than symptom management alone.
Persistent stress related to ADHD can make concentration and regulation increasingly difficult, especially when shaped by years of misunderstanding. We recognize how narratives of being lazy or inconsistent can take hold. Our sessions create space to untangle these experiences and process unresolved shame. Using trauma-informed and practical interventions, we help you cultivate balanced pacing, healthier boundaries, and renewed confidence.
We understand that grieving does not follow a predictable path and may include anger, longing, guilt, relief, or emotional shutdown. For some, the intensity lingers, accompanied by intrusive memories, self-blame, or difficulty accepting the reality of what has happened. Our trauma-informed approach addresses both emotional and nervous system responses to loss. By focusing on integration, attachment dynamics, and meaning-making, we support you in moving forward with greater internal stability.
Dissociation is not a flaw but an adaptive response to chronic stress or trauma. It can involve subtle disconnection or more pronounced experiences such as emotional numbness, memory gaps, or internal divisions between parts of self. We emphasize safety, grounding, and regulation before any trauma processing begins. Through steady, collaborative work, we support greater integration and emotional presence.
Living with depression can involve emotional numbness, self-criticism, changes in sleep or appetite, and diminished motivation. We frame this not as laziness but as a nervous system adaptation when resources feel depleted. Our therapeutic process integrates EMDR therapy, somatic techniques, parts work, and attachment-informed perspectives to address both mind and body. Together, we examine regulation patterns, process trauma when appropriate, and establish balanced rhythms of engagement and rest. We honour that recovery pathways differ and may include medical assessment as part of comprehensive care.
At our practice, we address burnout as a complex response to ongoing stress rather than a simple matter of exhaustion. Clients may notice detachment, resentment, difficulty concentrating, or emotional numbness. We provide regulation-focused counselling that prioritizes nervous system balance and realistic expectations. Our goal is to help restore steadiness and long-term sustainability.
