Dr. Baker is the executive director of Educational Therapy which offers intervention, counseling, 12 step Christ focused therapy, life coaching, assessment, treatment, wellness and treatment plans to individuals and organizations in the surrounding community. She provides hope for those struggling with addictions, anger issues, substance abuse challenges, life transitions, depression, loss and grief, etc.

Her goals as a Christian helper are to make the lives of all people productive and fulfilling. You can learn how to: be happy and flourish by actively changing your thoughts and actions, identify and nurture your talents, build character strengths, appreciate the present more, open your mind to novel, creative solutions to problems, build quality interpersonal relationships, have better success at work, improved physical health, and experience greater life satisfaction.

At Educational Therapy, we move from problems to goals. Goals give us a sense of purpose and structure. Goals give us a sense of identity and self-esteem, and goals give meaning to our lives by keeping us focused, organized and enthusiastic.

Each day, Dr. Sherry Baker begins with a quiet time that includes green tea, Scripture reading, and devotionals followed by a walk with her "grand-dog", Lexie, for a minimum of one hour, regardless of the weather conditions!
She is a semi-vegetarian (pescetarianism) preferring salmon over any other protein.
Her diet is 90% flour and sugar-free, plus she keeps her daily sodium levels under 1000 mg.
She not only teaches that physical and mental health go hand-in-hand, Dr. Baker models it!
In addition, Dr. Baker teaches clients that financial health is the path to freedom and true recovery.

Depression: Depression signals words that are not spoken, boundaries that are not respected, needs that are not met, and that hope is lost.
There are several types of depression addressed in counseling: major, chronic, atypical, postpartum, bi-polar, seasonal, psychotic, and serotonin deficiency.
Dr. Baker guides you in returning to a previous level of effective functioning.
Life Assessment: A life assessment is done on a time-line and covers significant events, life turns, roads not taken, births, deaths, etc.

Dr. Baker is happy to announce Skype, FaceTime, and Facebook Video Chat counseling sessions are now an option.
Phone sessions have always been an option for those unable to come to the office for an appointment, but Skype, FaceTime, and Facebook Video Chat offer the ability to have a face to face session in the comfort of your own home.
There is no additional fee for this service, but you would need to have Skype, FaceTime, or Facebook installed on your computer, laptop, tablet or cell phone.

What can I expect?
Along with weekly one-on-one counseling sessions, Dr. Baker uses a technique called bibliotherapy which consists of books, CD/DVDs, pamphlets, workbooks, and homework assignments that assist in your healing process.
Dr. Baker believes your healing process requires more than face-to-face dialog/instruction.
Through skilled counseling and bibliotherapy, the momentum of your recovery is never broken.
Dr. Baker accentuates health, the development of your soul, self-empowerment, and the ability to build a positive, peaceful life.
