Business Details
I am a licensed Seattle therapist offering skillful psychotherapy and counseling with warmth, gentleness, humor, and an interactive, down to earth style. I work with adult and adolescent individuals, couples, and groups dealing with a wide range of concerns. There are many reasons to enlist the help of a counselor. If you have found your way here, I imagine you may be struggling with some part of yourself or with someone in your life.

You might be looking for hope and support for problems that seem overwhelming. You may have the sense that you are not living the life you want to live, and wish to step more powerfully into yourself. Or you may be on a path of learning and self discovery. This process is about igniting what works, what is strong and beautiful in us, as much as it is about resolving old hurt and compassionately holding the difficulties of life.

The powerful shifts that therapy can facilitate create greater room for happiness, authenticity and a deeper sense of purpose and meaning.

About Anya
I am a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner with a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, women's studies, and poetics from Sarah Lawrence College.
I have been in private practice as a psychotherapist since 2003.
I have a background as a Massage Practitioner and began doing integrative (body-mind) work with clients in this practice in 1997.
I have worked with clients in a variety of mental health and social service settings including many years as a counselor helping adolescents, couples, families, and adults sort through the many issues around sexuality, family planning, grief and loss, and major life transitions.
Approach
We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch.
Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit.
My holistic therapeutic approach blends traditional psychodynamic work with body-oriented psychotherapy, Buddhist mindfulness practices, and the development of an authentic, safe and supportive therapeutic relationship.
Hakomi
Hakomi is a cutting edge form of somatic psychotherapy drawn from western psychology models, Buddhist mindfulness practices, attachment theory, and advancements in neurobiology.
Hakomi is practical and experiential, deeply gentle and profound.
It is an elegant method of gaining awareness about conscious or unconscious material that may be inhibiting your aliveness, growth or wellbeing.
It offers an opportunity to understand how this core material shows up- as habitual patterns in your body, heart, and mind.
Testimonials
I've worked with several therapists, personally and professionally, and I was so relieved to find Anya.
Because I've done extensive personal work, it was important to me to find a therapist who could work WITH me and not ABOVE me.
Anya has provided me an amazing reflection of myself so that I can see myself clearly and feel empowered to make changes or celebrate my successes.
She is an excellent listener and I truly feel seen in each session.
Even when I am out in the world, living my life, the work I do with Anya is still present and her total acceptance, non-judgmental guidance, and playfulness are integrated into my life.
Individuals
There's a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you, in all time, this expression is unique.
And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and be lost.
Individual therapy offers time that is just for you, to explore and connect with the deeper layers of yourself within the container of the therapy relationship.
Together we have the opportunity to study how you have been living your life, to explore the parts that are not working as well as they could, and to create new possibilities.
Couples
Two people in a relationship create a new world together.
This third space- the space of the relationship can be a source of refuge, love, strength, affection and security.
It can also be a source of great pain, struggle and conflict.
Relationships bring hidden parts of us to the surface- the best and the worst of us.
Because of this, relationships offer tremendous opportunity for mutual growth and healing.
Making a good relationship takes strength, bravery, faith, humor, compassion for ourselves and our partners, and a healthy dose of foolishness.
Groups
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
There are many reasons to choose to join a group.
This can be a place for you to work towards your own personal goals within a circle of other women.
We weave together personal histories, current lives, and the unfolding experiences and relationships within the group.
Exploring and developing relationships within therapy group is a way to inform you about your direction, and your nature.
Appointments
Periods of struggle are often the most difficult times to try something new, or to create a new connection.
I encourage you to call.
The success of therapy requires that we are a good match to work together.
Our first session will give you an opportunity to get a sense of me and how I work, while I begin to learn more about you and begin to assess what would be most helpful for you.
After we meet together for a number of sessions, I will give my initial recommendations for how our work together might proceed.
Fees
My fee is $140 per 50-minute session for individuals, couples and families.
If you are seeing me as a couple or family, I encourage you to consider a longer 80-minute session at $210.
Payment through PayPal or other electronic means will incur an additional $5 charge.
Payment is due at the time of each session, unless we have come to a different agreement.
I do not bill insurance companies directly, but can provide you with a statement that you may submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
Check with your plan to see if they cover out-of-network providers.
